Does My Sould Find Satisfaction in Jesus?

Does My Sould Find Satisfaction in Jesus?

I Know Jesus…But do I know Jesus?

Death by a Thousand cuts : Life

  • John 10:10 (NLT)
    • 10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
  • Is it possible to spend years learning about Jesus without ever truly surrendering our lives to Him?

“The grace you experienced yesterday cannot sustain today’s needs; transforming grace flows from a daily relationship with Jesus.”

Does My Soul Find Satisfaction in Jesus? : Faith

“What if God intends for you not only to know Him – What if God intends for you to enjoy Him?”

“Our satisfaction is not found in gifts, but in the giver of gifts: Jesus.”

David Platt (Follow Me)

Every soul longs for something

  • Psalm 63
  • Psalm 63:1 (NLT)
    • “A psalm of David, regarding a time when David was in the wilderness of Judah.
      1 O God, you are my God;
      I earnestly search for you.
      My soul thirsts for you;
      my whole body longs for you
      in this parched and weary land
      where there is no water.”
  • Jeremiah 2:13 (NLT)
    • 13 “For my people have done two evil things:
      They have abandoned me—
          the fountain of living water.
      And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns
          that can hold no water at all!”

We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in the slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.

C.S. Lewis
  • John 4:10 (NLT)
    • 10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

When my soul feels empty, where do I instinctively turn?

Satifaction is found in Jesus Himself

  • Psalm 63:3-5 (NLT)
    • 3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
          how I praise you!
      4 I will praise you as long as I live,
          lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
      5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
          I will praise you with songs of joy.”

A satisfied soul clings to Jesus

  • Psalm 63:8 (NLT)
    • I cling to you;
          your strong right hand holds me securely.”
  • When life falls apart, where do I run first?
  • When I succeed, who receives the glory?
  • When I feel empty, what do I use to distract myself?
  • When God feels distant, do I seek His face or simply continue my routine?
  • Do I want Jesus – or merely the life I hope Jesus will give me?

Life & Faith
The greatest tragedy would be to spend our lives among the things of Jesus – hearing sermons,, studying the Scriptures, and Serving his name – yes miss Jesus Himself: the true Treasure and the deep satisfaction for which our souls have always longed.
